Beholder is a mirror of Marie Pasichnichenko’s inner states — a period defined by loss and by codependency, which quietly penetrated every part of her life. She moved between closeness and distance, sometimes observing from far away, sometimes losing all sense of boundaries. Each photograph was taken almost unknowingly, a quiet moment whose meaning became clear only later. Together, they hold loneliness, longing, and a desire for intimacy — the camera became a way for her to distance herself from pain that, over time, grew less sharp.
Beholder is a story about contemplation: about observing without interfering, about feeling another’s mood while creating space for it. It speaks to what photography can hold that words cannot — a mood, a state of mind, something that exists only between the frames.
